Our Story

Welcome to Dom Beijos, a cozy and intimate wine shop located in the heart of Kirkwood. We specialize in Portuguese wines and are passionate about sharing the beauty and diversity of the country's wine culture with you. Our shop opened its doors in 2019 and since then, we've been bringing a touch of Portugal to the Atlanta community.

We believe that wine is meant to be enjoyed and shared with friends, family, and loved ones. Our knowledgeable staff will guide you through our extensive selection of hand-picked wines, each with its own unique story and flavor profile. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just starting to explore the world of wine, you'll feel right at home in our warm and welcoming atmosphere.

In-House Natural Wine Expert

Lillie Johnson

Lillie realized it might be time to start a career in wine when she noticed she was spending all her free time reading about and hunting down new and interesting bottles. Joining Dom Beijos in January 2019 she became our first employee, arriving not only as a wine enthusiast, but one who had also completed her WSET I in 2018. With a background in acting, Lillie loves meeting new people and helping someone find the perfect bottle for any meal or occasion. She’s passionate about natural wine and is always willing to share her knowledge of it. Her favorite wines are Piedmont reds, Loire whites, and anything orange and unfiltered.

Lillie loves to stay busy and is also a certified Pilates teacher. When she isn’t working you can find her spending time with her rescue Poodle mix, Bob.

Wine Education Specialist

Danielle Thomas

Dannielle received her WSET Level 2 certification from Napa Valley Wine Academy. Born and raised in Atlanta, Dannielle loves the city life, and is excited to be a part of a thriving wine community. Through her extensive travels, including her 2nd home in Cabo Verde, West Africa (where she learned Kriolu and Portuguese), she has increased her love of different customs, languages, and food. Dannielle sees wine as an extension of her passions, allowing people to come together, to learn about one another's cultures.

Dannielle also has extensive experience in children’s advocacy, international development, and justice-centered philanthropy. Dannielle loves reading Sci-fi/Afrofuturist books, traveling, and finding joy in her family and community.

Shop Floor Lead

Jake Slocum

Jake, an Auburn University alumnus and former collegiate baseball player, brings over 12 years of sales experience to the team, he honed his skills at notable organizations like Atlanta Ronald McDonald House and the Hershey Company. Currently immersed in the world of wine, he's rapidly developing his expertise, contributing fresh perspectives to wine tastings. His passion for the wine industry is evident, as he aims to use his growing skills for a future career in this field.

Outside of work, Jake enjoys recreational softball and golf, activities that complement his professional aspirations and underscore his team-oriented mindset. This blend of sportsmanship, sales acumen, and a keen interest in wine makes Jake a unique and valuable asset.
